About Me

Hi there! Welcome to myPortfolioImage site. My name is Alyssa Collier. I was born and raised in Toms River, New Jersey. I currently reside in the town, Manchester NJ. I have obtained a second Bachelor’s Degree of the Visual Arts, with a concentration in Visual Communications at Stockton University. My first bachelor’s degree is in psychology, from Kean University.

Under my first bachelor’s degree, I worked as a teacher assistant at Ocean Inc. Kids Daycare https://oceaninc.org/head-start-programs During my time at Ocean Inc., I helped plan certain art projects for the children. I also helped design one of the bulletin boards in the classroom. In addition I interned at Harbor House, a home for runaway teens. During my time at Harbor House, I helped layout on the computer certain group lessons for the teenagers and also updated Harbor House referrals to other shelters. One particular teenager was able to relocate to another shelter that I had found for him, that Harbor House was not aware of in their original list of other shelters. http://www.oceansharborhouse.org/

Early in my job experiences, I worked within a family business called ‘Yellow Brick Road Ice Cream Shops’ as an associate. I now currently help manage the shop and cake decorate ice cream cakes when necessary. https://ybricecreamshops.com/

I was also a runner who performed athletically through high school and at my community college, Ocean County College. As part of a team in high school, I was a varsity athlete. My team and I were state and regional champions for three years I ran cross country in high school. I also obtained honor roll through my sophomore to senior year. As part of the Ocean County College cross country team, my team and I were national champions our first year running in our division. Individually, I placed in the top fifteen All American for the national races two years in a row.

While finishing my art classes at Ocean County College, I had some of my art work displayed in their 2018 art exhibition. Five pieces of mine were chosen by a professional artist Graham Preston and designer, Carrie Ruddick who had included my pieces as the guest jurors for that year. I had also received a cash prize for my two particular design pieces for “Best Use of Design.”
